When
you are building a house the first thing you have to do is lay a foundation. The foundation has to be placed in undisturbed
ground, good, settled, sturdy ground. The foundation has to be formed, braced up, tight, and the concrete poured. After it
settles a few days to dry, if the concrete has not cracked or leaked from the form, then that means it has cured and is ready
to be built upon.
To
be cured means that the ingredients in the concrete have made it hard as a rock. Your foundation is established, and you can
begin to build.
The
Bible speaks of an established foundation in Matthew 7:24-27
Build
on a firm Foundation
24.
Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man which built his house
upon a rock.
25.
and the rain descended and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat upon that house, and it fell not, for it was founded
upon a rock.
26.
and every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man which built his
house upon the sand
27.
and the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house, and it fell and great was the fall
of it.
Our
foundation can’t be established upon our works. We are not justified by our good works or our deeds nor are we justified
by the law but only by the salvation of Jesus Christ.
I
Corinthians 3:11
For
other foundations can no man lay than that is laid which is Jesus Christ?
Jesus
is the rock that we build our foundation on.
John
1:1-2
In
the beginning was the word and the word was with God, and the word was God
2.
The same was in the beginning with God
John
1:14
And
the word was made flesh, and dwelt among us.
So
our word foundation now is established on the word of God thru Jesus Christ
I
Cor 3:10
According
to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise master builder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon.
But let every man take heed how he buildeth there upon.
This
is talking about how Paul had just laid a foundation by teaching Gods word and others will build upon that foundation, but
to take heed about how they will build upon it. So we need to give an ear and hear who we are being taught by and to know
that the foundation they are laying is from the word of God. If not, do not build upon it.
I
Cor 3:13-14
13.
Every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it because it shall be revealed by fire; and the
fire shall try every mans work of what sort it is.
14.
If any mans work abide which he hath built there upon, he shall receive a reward.
To
every man he has been given the responsibility of laying a foundation for his own temple.
The
Bible has laid the instruction on what our foundation should be built upon, and how it should be built.
Abraham
teaches us a foundation of blessings and miracles.
David
teaches us foundations of strength, leadership, wisdom, praise and worship.
The
New Testament teaches us of a foundation that we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us.
