I can't remember how many times I have heard people discussing what is acceptable to wear to church and
how for women it should be dresses and not pants. This has always bothered me because not everyone likes to wear
dresses or are comfortable in dresses. I have felt that it should be what that person is comfortable with wearing to be acceptable
because clothing should not be the issue of someone accepting Christ as their Lord and Savior.
The following Scriptures became real to me in a new way just the other day. They are talking about those who clean
the outside of the cup, but the inside is still dirty. Jesus was calling those who were concerned with the outside hypocrites.
The inside should be clean first and then the outside would be made clean. Throughout the Bible we are called vessels.
I believe Jesus was talking about us and the issues still of our day. I believe Jesus was concerned about the heart and not
so much about what we were wearing on the outside. Haven't you seen people who dressed like a million bucks but inside
were like wolves? The outside of the cup looked clean but inside there was all kinds of filth. Our inside is what is
so important to God. The matters of the heart.
So if you don't like to dress like everyone else, it is o.k.. Just be yourself and give your heart to God. God is concerned
for your heart, not your clothes.
Matthew 23:25-27...
25Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye make clean the outside
of the cup and of the platter, but within they are full of extortion and excess.
26Thou blind Pharisee, cleanse first that which is within the cup and platter,
that the outside of them may be clean also.
27Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are like unto whited
sepulchres, which indeed appear beautiful outward, but are within full of dead men's bones, and of all uncleanness.
